Routines: automation that runs on conditions you set
Routines are how Plaud acts on your behalf, automatically. You set them up once by telling Plaud Agent what you need in plain language, and they trigger on conditions, not just schedules.
A few examples of what that looks like in practice:
- Every day at 8:30am, check my calendar and summarize what I'm meeting about and what I need to prepare.
- Every time a recording finishes, use my Skill to organize the notes and file the key takeaways.
- Every Monday at 9:00am, collect the latest updates on finance industry and send me a briefing.
Plaud Agent sets it up for you. After that, it runs on its own.
Skills: custom instructions that make every output tailored to you
Summary templates have always let you structure your summaries consistently. Skills take that further. A Skill doesn't just define a format. It defines the entire task: the structure, the tone, the output type, the level of detail, and the logic Plaud Agent uses to complete it.
That means Skills handle far more than summaries. A Skill can turn a meeting recording into a finished report, flag risks in a legal contract, or complete a market research brief. Build it once, and Plaud Agent applies it every time.
If you want your client debrief to sound a specific way, include specific sections in a specific order, and land in a specific format, a Skill captures all of that.
Getting started with Skills
Plaud comes with a library of ready-to-use Skills built for common roles and tasks, so you can get started right away. You can also create your own by telling Plaud Agent what you need, or upload a template you already use.
What this means for you
Consultants: Every client call ends with a finished debrief in your format, generated automatically and ready to send. Your output is consistent whether you have five minutes or fifty after a call.
Ops professionals and founders: Weekly standups, team digests, and project updates can all run on Routines. The reporting happens without anyone driving it.

Frequently asked questions
What happened to AutoFlow? Are my automations gone?
AutoFlow has evolved into Routines, which is more powerful and more flexible. Routines trigger on conditions you describe in plain language, not just fixed schedules. Your previous AutoFlow automations do not carry over automatically, but recreating them as Routines takes only a few minutes and gives you significantly more control over how and when they run.
What is the difference between Summary Templates and Skills?
Summary Templates define the structure and sections of your AI summaries and remain exactly as they are. Skills go further. A Skill defines the entire task: the structure, tone, output type, level of detail, and the logic Plaud Agent uses to complete it. Skills work alongside your existing Summary Templates, not in place of them.
Will my existing Summary Templates still work after updating?
Yes. Your Summary Templates are not affected by this update. They continue to work exactly as they always have. Skills are a new addition, not a replacement.
Where do I find Routines in the app?
Routines are accessible from the Plaud Agent tab. You can also ask Plaud Agent to set up a Routine for you by describing what you want to automate in plain language. Agent handles the setup from there.
Does running Skills and Routines cost anything?
Running a Skill and Routine involves Plaud Agent taking action on your behalf, hence will consume Plaud Credits.
Can I share Skills with my team?
Yes. Plaud Team customers can share Skills across the organization. Your whole team works from the same playbook without each person having to configure it individually.
